Helly lovely mamas!
Today, I want to chat about something many of us start noticing at some point—white hair. Yep, those first few silvery strands that sneak in quietly, often catching us off guard in the mirror. If you're anything like me, you might not have a full head of white hair yet, just a few here and there. Not enough to commit to regular dyeing, but just enough to make you wonder, “Is it time?”
Well, I recently stumbled upon a charming little trick online that I just had to share with you. It’s natural, simple, and smells delicious—and it involves something you probably already have in your kitchen: cocoa powder.
Yes, cocoa powder! The same ingredient that makes your brownies irresistible can also help you gently mask those early white hairs. The idea is to mix cocoa powder with a few other natural ingredients to create a soft tint that blends beautifully with darker hair shades. It’s not a permanent dye, but it’s a lovely way to postpone the whole coloring routine while still feeling polished and confident.
What I love most about this trick is how gentle and nourishing it feels. No harsh chemicals, no commitment—just a cozy little ritual that feels like self-care. Plus, it’s a fun way to experiment with natural beauty and embrace the changes in our hair with grace and creativity.
So if you’re in that in-between stage—where the white hairs are peeking through but you’re not quite ready to dive into full-on dyeing—this might be just the thing for you!

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of cocoa powder (unsweetened)
1 tablespoon of plain yogurt (for moisture and smooth texture)
1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (helps with color setting and scalp health)
1 teaspoon of honey (optional, for added shine and nourishment)
A few drops of lavender or rosemary essential oil (optional, for a soothing scent and scalp benefits)
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl until you get a smooth, creamy paste. Adjust the cocoa powder if you want a deeper tint.
Apply the mixture to clean, damp hair—focusing on the areas with white strands. You can use a brush or your fingers (wear gloves if you prefer).
Leave it on for 30–45 minutes. You can wrap your hair in a shower cap or towel to keep it warm and help the color set.
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. No need for shampoo right away—just rinse and condition if needed.
Repeat weekly or as often as you like. The color builds gradually and gives a soft, natural look.
This method works best for brunettes or darker hair tones, as cocoa powder naturally blends with brown hues. It won’t give dramatic results like chemical dyes, but it’s a lovely way to soften the contrast and embrace your hair’s natural evolution.
Let me know if you try it!
Love, Katerina
